Neighborhood Program

The Neighborhood Program is an Outreach Program where AFY clinical staff venture into communities and renders assistance to youth in need of help, which also include individuals labeled as “gang members.” The cornerstone of the Neighborhood Program is to first develop rapport and trust with disenfranchised youth. Hence, youth are engaged in weekly activities, which are left up to group members to plan.  RT is applied during the Neighborhood Program in order to address dysfunctional family issues, drug and alcohol use, violence, relationships, bullying, and other barriers that impede healthy adolescent development.   The Neighborhood Program extends into the following AFY services:

  • Advocacy and Outreach to High-Risk Students
  • Advocacy and Outreach to Homeless Youth
  • Community Beautification Projects
