PEARL (SABVC)
The PEARL (Promoting Peace, Empathy, Acceptance, Respect, and Love) Conventions, formerly known as the SABVC (Student Anti-Bullying and Violence Conventions), are conducted annually for elementary and middle school students. Each year, there are about 4,000 participants from various schools across Oahu.
AFY aims to bring to light the severity and consequences of bullying and violence that happens on many school campuses and communities throughout Hawaii. The PEARL Conventions focus on teaching youth how to address various degrees of bullying and where to go to find solutions for these issues. The conveyed message of the PEARL is meant to be taken back by students and teachers to their respective classrooms and inspire youth to reach out to their peers in a peaceful manner with empathy, acceptance, respect, and love.
